Through the Betty Shabazz Delta Academy, the approximate 100 members of the Hartford Alumnae Chapter have embraced the vision of our sisterhood in preparing girls to meet the challenges of the 21st century. We exuberantly volunteer our time and talent for the purpose of empowering our girls through increased exposure to math, science and technology. Through positive influence and lasting life changing experiences, we hope the girls will emerge as strong, determined and vibrant women; taking their rightful place as effective leaders in their communities and the world.

Our Delta Academy is exceptional, unique and set apart from any other because our program:

• Services girls from age 8 to 18
• Incorporates donated time, talent and expertise of parents and community.
• Incorporates donated capital resources from businesses.
• Leverages on the involvement of girls who graduated from the program;
  but now serve as volunteers
• Extends our opportunity for exposure to other Delta Academies within the State of CT.

Through the various channels of resources as outlined above, our girls:

• Have access to state of the art computer technology and science laboratories
• Take field trips to some of the noted science and technology conservatories
• Received book scholarships upon entry into an institution of higher learning
• Network with persons who have careers in their area of professional interest
• And most importantly, HAVE FUN.
